Amin led the design and assessment of the TfL Emerging Leaders Programme, in particular expanding it to accommodate graduate & apprentice Engineers. He worked with TfL’s Leadership Development team and TfL Directors to design and run a substantial and ambitious interview process for candidates. The result is a scheme that allows recent graduates & apprentices the freedom to develop as managers and leaders on placements, through training, with peer-based support and Director mentorship. He also encouraged me and a fellow female graduate engineer to start a monthly Women in Engineering recruitment working group after we both aired frustrations at the lack of gender diversity from female applicants to our organisation.

Amin has a clear passion for development, a sharp skillset as a listener and coach, and career experience in Engineering to boot; his guidance has been invaluable to my career direction. It felt like he had identified my character and drive before I thought I had even finished introducing myself! His coaching questions and mentor advice always seemed one step ahead of my thought-process – well considered to progress my thinking but not so much to overwhelm me with advice, and always tailored to my circumstance. In the few development sessions I had with him over the course of a few months I had developed a 5-year plan, considered a huge breadth of questions about my career goals and areas for engineering and leadership development, and pinned down a clear career purpose. I learned more about myself and my motivations from his guidance in a few hours of conversation than I had in a matter of years. I’m very thankful to have been able to have received coaching from Amin!

Amin was my line manager for over a year and I really felt like he was invested in making me both a better engineer and person. He ensured to make time for me whenever I needed to have a talk and, with his experience  through completing the graduate scheme like myself, it definitely helped with my development. As an Engineering Lead, I learnt a lot from Amin. I gained a deeper insight into how to lead complex engineering discussions and learnt a lot about processes. Again, to aid my development he would give me the opportunity to run these meetings with his guidance to allow me to experience leading them. The main positive is the fact that Amin really cared about my development which I am eternally grateful for, as without his support and guidance I would not be where I am today.

Amin's sincerity towards my career was genuinely refreshing; he kept me at the forefront of the entire process and truly helped me unlock value within which I didn’t think I had. I was facing a challenging decision point in my life deciding whether or not an opportunity was right for me. Amin guided me through the journey and gave me the right encouragement to do so. In certain situations you need a mentor to guide your decisions; Amin goes beyond this and acts as a genuine friend something that is quite hard to come by. I’ve made quite a big career jump and can happily say it’s been a fantastic growth opportunity. His passion for coaching and people is outstanding and could easily be one of the many things that separate him from other coaches I have had. We have been working with Amin this year to deliver a series of webinars to our employer partners at the University of Nottingham, focused on how to set up a graduate programme and successfully attract, recruit and retain early career talent. Amin is a subject expert on graduate recruitment and has a wealth of knowledge and advice for employers about how to successfully structure and implement a regular graduate intake, as well as ensure development and progression is at the core of the programme. On a personal note, it has been a pleasure to work with Amin on this project due to his proactive approach, personable nature and enthusiasm in developing graduates and supporting individuals to progress their career. We look forward to collaborating with Amin and Inner Instincts in the future.
